The roots have an important role within traditional medicine methods of the Ayurveda in India. The roots for example can be used as an aphrodisiac, but also has a calming and anti-inflammatory effect. It could also improve physical performance, which is why sporters have also taken interest in the plant. The non-edible orange-red fruits have seeds which can replace rennet in the process of making cheese. The plant grows well in a pot or in the garden and doesn't get very big. About 30-75cm. Germinating instructions: Sow the seeds in the spring in sowing ground and let them germinate at room temperature. Keep the soil moist.
