The ashwagandha is a small annual shrub from Asia, but can also already be found in more parts in Asia and Africa. The roots have an important role within traditional medicine methods of the Ayurveda in India. The roots for example can be used as an aphrodisiac, but also has a calming and anti-inflammatory effect. It could also improve physical performance, which is why sporters have also taken interest in the plant. The non-edible orange-red fruits have seeds which can replace rennet in the process of making cheese. The plant grows well in a pot or in the garden and doesn't get very big. About 30-75cm.
Sowing description: Sow the seeds in the spring in sowing ground and let them germinate at room temperature. Keep the soil moist.
