Product description

The Chinese toon is a hardy tree that can grow up to a maximum of 25 meters. The fruit, bark and roots have an important role in traditional Chinese medicine, and would break down cancer cells and counteract diabetes. Young leaves are used in China as a vegetable, and the taste is similar to onion or garlic. The leaves are for example added to rice, salads or scrambled eggs. A lot of recipes can be found online (Such as the recipe for Traditional fried egg). 

Sowing description: Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours, and refresh the water after every 6 hours. Sow the seeds in sowing mix, cover the soil with foil or glass and let them germinate at 25 degC.

Elk jaar zaai ik deze "Uiensoepboom".
Ofschoon de jonge plantjes ook als kiemgroente worden gebruikt is het opkompercentage bij mij nooit meer dan 40%.
De zaden stratificeer ik door de helft in vochtige vermiculiet vanaf november buiten in donkere gesloten plastic bak te bewaren en de andere helt in de koelkast bij ongeveer 5 graden Celsius.
Ik heb nog niet kunnen ontdekken wat de beste manier is.


Mitch vial

Heb deze plant 5 jaar geleden gezaait.
Heb nu 4 bomen van meer dan 2,5 meter.
Heb de zaden 24 uur in lauw water geweekt met 4× verversen en daarna gezaaid als een lichtkiemer.

Zowel in pootgrond als tussen keukenpapier gezaaid. Beide in een kweekkastje op een warmtemat. Niets is er opgekomen.


Fiona Verbruggen

De zaden gezaaid volgens de aanwijzingen. Jammer genoeg van de 40 zaden geen enkele opgekomen.
