Product description

The largest bamboo outside the tropics, with stems up to 25 cm in diameter and 28 meters high. The species is originally from China and Taiwan, and is known for it’s edible shoots and the use of the fiber in the textile industry. The bamboo is hardy up to -20 degC, although some damage can occur during the winter. Because the plant easily recovers in the spring, it is a very suitable plant to grow in the garden. In most gardens the stems will not reach a height of 28 meters, but will still be a very beautiful and decorative bamboo of considerable size. A sunny spot would be ideal, and give the bamboo plenty of water.

Sowing description: Soak the seeds for 24 hours in lukewarm water, and sow them superficially (the seeds should still be visible) in sowing mixture. Germination at a day temperature of 20-25 degrees Celcius, and preferably a bit lower during the night. The soil can be covered with plastic foil or glass, and should every now and then be sprayed with water in order to keep it lightly moist. Germination is very irregular, it can take two weeks, but also a few months. Give young plants as much light as possible.

Tanel

Out of 5 one did start growing but i got some extra seeds i guess if some fail to start growing. Bamboo is just like that that success rate is very low but when it does then it's happy days

Kees

Zeljka

From 20 seeds I have 5 plants.

On 3.april I put them in soil, and today on 1.June they are about 10cm high

Lauri

After 1 month 7/20 seeds have sprouted and they are looking healty.

Ioana

This is a very good batch of seeds. I bought three bags that I planted about 3 weeks ago and a lot of the seeds are germinating and some already show vegetative growth. Tbh entirely honest we had really good weather with lots of sun in the past weeks so conditions were ideal for windowsill germination.

Stijn

Ioana

Well, these actually failed for me the first time around but that was because of me, not because of the seeds. They have ok germination and one of the seedling is growing slowly but constantly. took about a month to see anything even with a heating mat and grow light but it's the middle of winter, so not exactly perfect conditions. Seeds are good though, good moso seeds are hard to find

Good germination

I have tried moso before and had no success with it. I know seeds are notoriously difficult but these have germinated in a damp paper towel in about a month or so. Not all germinated, of course, but about 50% did which is great rate. Waiting for the growth now but the seeds were fresh indeed.

Amke

In augustus 2020, 2 verpakkingen besteld.

Hello Onszaden,

I ordered a package of these seeds, I got 40+ instead of 20. That was a welcoming bonus.
I planted them all and on different methods, like direct in soil outside, inside in my seedtray (room temperature) and inside in my seedtray at 25 degrees celsius. And of course, following the instructions. Only one seed has germinated so far. I made a small diary below.

28-6-2021 24h in water
29-6-2021 Planted
18-7-2021 Germination, 1 seedling
13-8-2021 Still 1 seedling (12 cm)

I know that germination can be within 2 weeks or in months, but do you have any extra tips for me. Or do you think I got an old batch?

Thanks in advance!

Zeer jammer. De andere (niet-bamboe) zaden zijn wel gelukt.

Bresson

Goede service! Ik heb zelfs meer dan 20 zaden gekregen :)

Lambert

Super snelle service en levering
Nu even wachten dat de zaden uitkomen

Brecht

1 cm
