The Mountain Swamp Gum originally grew in the swamps and valleys of the mountains in New South Wales and Victoria. The species is resistant to regular flooding and therefore thrives in a moist environment. The species is hardy up to -15 degrees Celsius and is one of the few eucalyptus trees that can grow well in partial shade. The maximum height is 10 meters in nature.
