Common name:
Cockspur Coral Tree

This is the national flower of Argentina and Uruguay, which indicates how beautiful this species is. The species originates from Brazil where it occurs as a small perennial, up to five meters high tree. The species can be kept as a container plant (max. 2m high) with a minimum temperature of 5 degrees Celsius. The beautiful, coral red flowers are each 5 cm in size, but grow in bunches which can be 30cm large in total.

Germination instructions:
First, soak the seeds for 24 hours in lukewarm water. The seeds that sink can then be sown in sowing mix. Seeds that float must be sanded or even slightly nicked, and soaked again afterwards. Most should sink now.

Keep the soil constantly moist and let them germinate at around 25 degC.

Sowing time:
All year round
