Product description

The Brugmansia is a beautiful plant with large, trumpet-like flowers which are 15 to 20 cm wide. This species produces white flowers and originates from the Andes, where the brush occurs at heights up to 3.000 meters. Because of this height, it fares quite well against the cold. You can keep this plant a s a container plant, but you can also cultivate it in outdoor soil. As a container plant, you can protect the plant against the frost if you want to keep it the way it is. However, if you let it stand outside during winter, the frost will make sure everything above the ground dies off, allowing the plant to rejuvenate next fall. Both methods require you to provide a spot in partial shade.
The flowers are pollinated by moths that are attracted through the white colour of the flowers and the fragrance that is mainly spread during the evening.

The seeds and leaves are eaten by Indians to make contact with their ancestors or look in the future. However, an overdose is lethal, so you shouldn’t try it yourselves. The genus Brugmansia is named after Sebald Justinus Brugmans, who was a Dutch professor from the city of Leiden.

Ronan

Beautiful hanging white flowers but not winter hardy .

Nico
