Family: Aristolochiaceae
Scientific name: Aristolochia macrophylla
Common name: Dutchman's Pipe
Origin: United States

This pipe flower species has heart-shaped leaves that can be up to 30 cm large, which enables the plant to fully cover a wall or fence. The yellow-green flowers are sometimes hidden between the leaves and are about 5 cm wide. For their pollination, they attract insects which are then temporary trapped in the flowers in order to ensure that they pollinate the flower. It’s a hardy plant that can grow quite quickly and reach a size of 9 meters without pruning.
