This arum from India always proves to be a special appearance in the garden. Each year, the fully cold-hardy plant grows as a bulb from the ground and dies away later in the year. After several years, remarkable flowers will appear annually which add an extra dimension to the garden. They are pollinated by flies, which is why the flowers do not produce lovely nectar-like odours, but scents that are appealing to flies. These odours are only produced briefly, so they won’t irritate you when you cultivate the plant close to your terrace. When the plant has died away, you can dig up the tuber and store it during the winter in a cool and dry place.
