Description

At the leaf margin of this succulent, small copies with even leaves and roots already form. When they fall off the fleshy leaf, they can root directly into the soil and continue to grow as a new plant. In this way, the plant can quickly spread through an area, that naturally being the drier parts of Madagascar. The plant can also flower in order to reproduce sexually, providing variation in the population. It does so with a fairly large inflorescence with bell-shaped flowers that have red parts. Miracle Leaf is a popular houseplant and almost all houseplants are obtained with the small plantlets at the leaf margin and thus with each other's copies. It is fun to also sow this species to create genetic variation among the houseplants kept.

The plant is easy to care for and likes well-drained soil and a light location without direct sunlight. Let the soil dry out between watering.

Sowing description: Soak small seeds first in hot water from the tap for 1 minute. Then soak for 24 hours in water at room temperature and sow on the surface of sowing soil. Do not cover seeds with soil and cover completely with foil or glass. Germination usually after a few weeks at 21-24grC in a light location without direct sunlight.
