One of the largest and most spectacular Anthurium species. The leaves have a striking vein and can grow very large. Up to 2 metres long and 20-30 cm wide. The species originally grows in the mountain forests of Antioquia and Chocó in Colombia at altitudes around 1,000 metres. In trees as an epiphyte, forming rhizomes to cling to a branch. The inflorescence consists of a green spathe and a white-pink spadix. After pollination, the flowers are followed by white-green berries containing 1 or 2 seeds.

Due to its origin at altitude, the plant is naturally accustomed to relatively cool temperatures. The optimal growing temperature is between 20 and 25 degC and the minimum humidity around 50%. This makes this Anthurium a rather suitable houseplant compared to some other species. Provide a very well-drained soil with organic material, including e.g. tree bark and Sphagnum moss. Water regularly, but avoid keeping the roots too moist. And offer a light location without direct sunlight.

Sowing description: The already germinated seed can be grown on directly in Sphagnum moss at 20-25 degC. After the formation of the first roots, it can be transferred to a well-drained soil mixture.
