Description

The leaf of this Anthurium is deeply incised, giving it a finger-like shape. It is bright green, glossy and can grow up to 60 cm wide. The plant as a whole can reach a height of about 1 meter, keeping this species relatively small. The species is native to the rainforest of southern Mexico. Unlike other Anthurium species, the finger Anthurium grows there on the forest floor and thus roots in soil. Most other species are epiphytes and thus grow on rocks or in trees. This makes the soil mixture for these species different and can be a bit less aerated than that for epiphytic species. Still make sure the soil is permeable, but use e.g. potting soil as a base and mix in peat and organic matter for airiness. Keep the soil constantly slightly moist for good growth.

The plant furthermore likes a light position without direct sunlight, a temperature between 20 and 25grC and a humidity of 50-70% is sufficient. After a few years the plant can also flower with an inflorescence consisting of a green bract and a purple spadix.

Sowing instruction:The already germinated seed can continue to develop between a moist tissue. Once the first leaf is formed, it can be transferred to an airy soil mixture. At first still covered with cling film or glass, then it can be slowly accustomed to the conditions in the living room.
