Product description

The special leaves of this Anthurium are heart-shaped and slightly hairy, making them soft to the touch. They are dark green and have striking light-colored veins. The species originates in the extreme south of Mexico, near the border with Guatemala. There the plant grows in the rainforest as an epiphyte in trees and on rocks. The inflorescence is white and is followed by orange berries after pollination.

The plant naturally remains relatively small and is also quite easy to keep as a houseplant in terms of conditions. Provide a very airy, permeable soil with e.g. a mix of tree bark, perlite and Sphagnum moss (or orchid soil) and keep the soil constantly slightly moist. In addition, it is important to give it a light position without direct sunlight. Room temperature is sufficient and the humidity should be kept above 60%.

Sowing description: The seed can be germinated (further) in Sphagnum moss at a temperature of 22 to 28 deg C. After the formation of the first roots, it can be transferred to a well-drained, airy soil.

Good seeds but package may improve

I'm in Canada and I ordered several anthurium seeds here last summer. The first time when I ordered, the vendor wrapped the seems in sphagnum moss, so the germinated seeds were perfect and fresh when it arrived. Because the vendor uses snail mails, so it takes very long time from Europe to North America, and Canada Post is not the fastest. I was really happy about the result, so I ordered more germinated seeds from them a month later. But this time, they used wet paper towels to pack the seeds! Of course, paper towels do not have the anti-bacterial or anti-fungal nature as sphagnum moss, so the anthurium seeds were moldy...The vendor was really kind and resent me the order later, but still it would be much better if the seeds were all wrapped in sphagnum moss if they are to ship across sea.

The first batch seeds grew really well, and they are really pretty. I am thinking about to order a few more this year, but I'm worried they will become moldy too during the shipment. All the all, the quality of the seeds here are awesome and I would recommend to others.
