Product description

This Anthurium species stands out because of its bright red, elongated cluster of fruits. The fruits appear after (self)pollination of the rather inconspicuous, green inflorescence. The leaves are dark green and oblong, growing to about 60 cm long. The species originally grows in the rain forests of Central America: from southern Mexico to northern South America. There, the species grows as an epiphyte in trees, where it can even develop on the side of a trunk. This also makes the plant suitable for growing in a hanging pot, where the long leaves will hang down.

The plant is quite easy to keep as a houseplant. Provide a very airy, permeable soil with e.g. a mix of tree bark, perlite and Sphagnum moss (or orchid soil) and keep the soil constantly slightly moist. In addition, it is important to give it a bright location without direct sunlight. Room temperature is sufficient and humidity is best kept above 60%.

Sowing description: The seed can be germinated (further) in Sphagnum moss at a temperature of 22 to 28 degC. After the formation of the first roots, it can be transferred to well-drained, airy soil.
