This undescribed species comes from the Meratus Mountains in southeastern Borneo. That area is isolated from the other mountains in Borneo, which has given rise to unusual animal and plant species over the course of evolution. Among them is this beautiful Alocasia species. The leaves can grow to about 50 cm and have a dark green colour with striking light veins. The leaf margin also has a narrow, light band and the whole thing gives the leaves a nice contrast. The underside of the leaf has a purplish colour and the petioles are light green.
Provide a light spot without direct sunlight and a well-drained soil with organic material. If the humidity is below 70%, the leaves can be regularly sprayed with water for good growth.
Sowing description: The seed can be germinated (further) in Sphagnum moss at a temperature of 25 to 30 degC. After formation of the first roots, it can be transferred to well-drained, airy soil.
