The American persimmon is a 2-6 cm large, orange-yellow fruit with sweet, juicy flesh. The fruits contain a lot of vitamin C and is not often seen. It is a hardy plant that is very easy to take care off so you can grow these fruits well on your own. In the natural environment, the tree reaches a height of 20 m, but the plant should be pruned properly, making it suitable for most gardens.
The species is dioecious, so there are male and female individuals. However, female trees also produce fruit without pollination, where there will be no seeds in the fruit. If there is a male tree nearby, there will be seeds in the fruits.
