Description

This pipe flower species has heart-shaped leaves that can be up to 30 cm large, which enables the plant to fully cover a wall or fence. The yellow-green flowers are sometimes hidden between the leaves and are about 5 cm wide. For their pollination, they attract insects which are then temporary trapped in the flowers in order to ensure that they pollinate the flower. It’s a hardy plant that can grow quite quickly and reach a size of 9 meters without pruning.

Sowing description: First soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 48 hours. The seeds can be sown in sowing mix, and should be covered with a very thin layer of soil. Move it to a bright spot at a temperature of 20 to 28 degrees Celsius. Keep the soil constantly moist (cover with plastic foil or glass).
The germination can be stimulated with a cold stratification of 3 months at 5degC before sowing.
