Description

The yellow fruits have a thin skin and slightly acidic, citrus-like flesh. In Asian countries they are often eaten fresh for breakfast, but they can also be added as an ingredient to, for example, curries. The fruits can grow to a size of 5 to 10 cm and contain several large seeds.
The mundu is a tropical tree that originates in the region between India, China and Thailand. There the species grows in the rainforest and can reach a height of about 10 meters.

In the Netherlands the species can be kept as a houseplant or tub plant and remains a lot smaller. It is a slow grower with large oval leaves. The plant can withstand shade, but prefers a semi-sunny position. In the summer months this can be outside, as long as the temperature does not drop below 5 degrees Celsius. Make sure that the soil is well-drained with a portion of sand, and water the plant regularly.

Sowing description: Sow short-lived seeds directly into sowing and cutting soil. Keep the soil constantly slightly moist and let it germinate at 25-35grC. Germination can take a while and can occur as long as the seeds are hard.
