The Garland One Top heated propagator is specially designed for germinating seeds and growing young plants. Thanks to its built-in base heating, it creates a warm and humid environment that promotes the germination of many plant species. Particularly for tropical and subtropical seeds, which often require higher germination temperatures, using a heated propagator can significantly speed up and improve germination.
The propagator features an 8-watt heated base that raises the temperature of the growing medium by approximately 8 °C above the ambient temperature. At a room temperature of 20 °C, the growing medium can therefore reach approximately 28 °C. As the temperature depends on the surrounding conditions, it is important not to place the propagator in direct sunlight. This could cause the temperature to rise too high, potentially damaging the seeds and young plants.
The propagator consists of a sturdy growing tray with a transparent, raised lid. The lid helps maintain high humidity and features an adjustable ventilation opening to regulate humidity and airflow. The growing tray has drainage and capillary openings that contribute to good water management and healthy root development. The height of the lid also provides sufficient space for the initial growth of seedlings. The propagator is made from 100% recycled plastic, with the exception of the transparent lid, and is designed for many years of reuse.
The base heating operates continuously and does not have a built-in thermostat. For most seeds, a separate thermostat is not necessary. If you wish to maintain a specific, as consistent as possible germination temperature, the propagator can optionally be combined with the separately available ROOT!T thermostat. This automatically switches the heating on and off based on the measured temperature.
The propagator can be filled directly with seed and cutting compost or used with smaller pots and seed trays. A 5-litre bag of SOGO seed and cutting compost is sufficient to fill the growing tray with a suitable layer of compost.
