The sea purse has beautiful seeds that look like small purses. They have a very hard seed wall, and are therefore protected from salt water and are spread by floating through oceans all over the world. The huge creeper grows up to 20 meters high, worldwide in tropical coastal areas and produces purple flowers. The seed are contained in large pods and often have a mottled pattern. Because of its size and tropical backdrop, it is a challenge to grow this plant in a temperate climate. However, with regular pruning, it can be the kind of fine climber through a window, in a conservatory or heated greenhouse. The seeds are often used for jewelry, so you can also give them another application.
Sowing description: First scarify the seeds by cut into one side of the seed coat. Don't damage the inner part, so stop cutting when you see a colour change. Then soak them for 24 hours in lukewarm water. You can sow them in sowing mix at a temperature of around 25 degC. Keep the soil constantly moist.
