The long leaves of this rare Syzygium species have a distinctive vein and resemble the leaves of Syzygium jiewhoei. Young leaves are light pink in colour, after which they slowly turn green. It can grow 50 cm long and about 15 cm wide. The species is found in the rainforest of New Guinea, where it grows as a tree to about 15 metres high. Pink flowers can form on the stem with many stamens. After pollination, they are followed by 5 cm large pink-red fruits containing 1 large seed.
The species can be kept as a houseplant, where it can be pruned well. Provide a well-drained soil that is constantly slightly moist. Spray especially the young leaves with water occasionally when humidity is relatively low.
Sowing description: The already germinated seed can be transferred directly into a well-drained soil mixture with organic matter. For initial development, 25-30grC is optimal.

Het gekiemde zaad komt snel op. In ongeveer twee a 3 weken tijd de eerste blaadjes. Echt leuk om te zien.
