Description

The Kasturi mango is a delicious, sweet fruit with juicy flesh. At about 5 cm, the fruit is smaller than an ordinary mango and weighs between 50 and 80 grams. It is a rare species from the far south of Borneo where it occurred around the town of Banjarmasin. Unfortunately, natural populations have disappeared due to deforestation and the species is extinct in the wild. Because of its delicious flavour, the Kasturi mango is still cultivated on a small scale, so it has not completely disappeared.

The tree can reach a height of 30 metres in the tropics and can withstand wet conditions well. Year-round, the tree can flower and thus produce fruit. When ripe, the fruits take on a purple-blue skin, have dark orange flesh and also spread a lovely scent.
In Europe, the species can be kept as a houseplant or in a heated greenhouse or conservatory. Provide well-drained soil and water the plant regularly.

Sowing instructions: First soak the seed in lukewarm water for a few hours. Then sow in sowing mix and allow to germinate at 25-30 degrees Celsius. Keep soil constantly slightly moist. Germination usually takes several weeks.

The seed came germinated in excellent condition and it grows. Very satisfied.

helaas maar de pit die ik kreeg was al kapot dus niet uitgelopen . volgend jaar een volgende poging

Alessandro

I received the package containing the seed in just over a week here in Italy, everything as described, the seed is in perfect condition shipped inside an envelope with damp moss, the seed has already germinated with several developed roots. Recommended, I will buy from you again. Thank you

Axel
