Product description

The marula is well known from the South African liquor Amarula, that is made from the fruits of an African tree that grows in large parts of Southern Africa. Fruits become yellow as they ripen, have a sour-sweet white pulp, and are about the size of a prune. They can be eaten fresh or can be processed into juices. The fruits contain 8 times more vitamin C than an orange. The fruits are popular among all kinds of animals like monkeys and elephants. Sometimes they eat so many ripe marulas that they become drunk. The seeds from the marula can be eaten as seeds, or can be processed into marula-oil which is used in the African kitchen or can be applied on the skin. The plants are dioecious, and therefore a male and female plant are required for fructification.

Sowing description: Soak the seeds for 24 hours in lukewarm water, then sow them in sowing mix. Let the seeds germinate at 25-30 degC, cover the soil with plastic foil or glass and keep the soil constantly moist.

Alle 5 zaden zijn bij mij uitgekomen na zaaien in zaai en stekgrond. Na aantal weken kwamen ze al uit.
