Product description

With this plant it is possible to grow your own sponge. The young green fruits can be eaten fresh like cucumber, or can be cooked and eaten as a vegetable. However, if you keep the fruits attached to the plant or let them dry somewhere else, the fruits become light and can be used as a sponge. The fruits can grow up to 60 cm, and are among others used in Africa as a skincare product. The plant has its origin in India, grows fast, and can be kept as an annual plant in a cold greenhouse or at a sheltered, sunny place in the garden.

Sowing description: Let the seeds soak for several hours in lukewarm water, and sow them in potting soil.

Joop

7 van de 10 zaden waren opgekomen binnen enkele weken in zaai- en stekgrond. Binnen 1 maand hadden de plantjes al 5 bladeren. De planten groeien heel hard en het is gelukt om 'sponsen' te krijgen! De planten werden opgekweekt in een kas.

Mooie plantjes 3 van de 3 zaadjes zijn uitgekomen.
Gewoon behandelen als een harde pompoen zaadje en het komt goed.

Ik knip het topje af tot je net een beetje wit zie,
24 uur laten inweken en dan planten in een potje op een warmte mat. Binnen 2 weken heb je een mooi plantje.

Ik heb geen enkel zaadje kunnen laten uitkomen. Heb op verschillende manieren geprobeerd. Spijtig.
