Product description

Beautiful palm tree which originates from Mauritius, however it has almost gone extinct in its original growing area due to the destruction of its habitat. At a young age the palm produces leaves with red nerves, which in time will colour blue-gray and become sturdy. It is a rare relative from the Bismarckia palm from Madagascar and grows well indoors.

Sowing description: Soak the seeds for 48 hours in lukewarm water and afterwards sow in a deep container filled with sowing mix. Keep the soil constantly moist (not wet) at a temperature of around 25-30 degrees Celcius.

21 mei '23 6 zaden besteld
24 juli '23 nog eens 12 zaden besteld
Op het moment van schrijven zijn 6 zaden gekiemd waarvan bij 2 al een mooi klein blad bovengrond zichtbaar is.
Laatstgenoemde 2 inmiddels voorzien van eigen pot.
Overige zaden welke nog niet gekiemd zijn voelen nog hard aan en blijven dus nog voorlopig even zitten

Had de hoop eigenlijk al opgegeven, één zaad opgegraven die er volledig verschimmeld en half vergaan uitzag. Overige zaden toch maar laten zitten en na ruim een half jaar ontkiemde de eerste alsnog. Vervolgens nog eens drie maanden later ontkiemde de tweede. Wie weet wat er verder nog te wachten staat, ik zou deze zaden in ieder geval ruim de tijd geven voordat je de hoop volledig opgeeft.

Op 4/8 gezaaid, vandaag 29/9 is de eerste ontkiemd. Dit in een pergolator met een temperatuur van 28°C overdag en 21°C tijdens de nacht.
