Product description

This is the national flower of Argentina and Uruguay, which indicates how beautiful this species is. The species originates from Brazil where it occurs as a small perennial, up to five meters high tree. The species can be kept as a container plant (max. 2m high) with a minimum temperature of 5 degrees Celsius. The beautiful, coral red flowers are each 5 cm in size, but grow in bunches which can be 30cm large in total.

Sowing description: First, soak the seeds for 24 hours in lukewarm water. The seeds that sink can then be sown in sowing mix. Seeds that float must be sanded or even slightly nicked, and soaked again afterwards. Most should sink now. Keep the soil constantly moist and let them germinate at around 25 degC.

ik kan u vertellen dat de struik het heeft overleeft.
had twee planten in een 40 ltr.pot gezet , en heb ze in maart geschuurd en ieder in een eigen pot gezet.
ze doen het geweldig heb in een plant 7 aren vol met bloemen ( zoals op foto 2) en de andere heeft er 4 geweldig.
Heb inmiddels ook de leeuwen oor . papegaaiensnavel. orleander buiten staan!

In maart 2020 5zaden gezaaid, na lang wachten kwamen er 2 op, deze verpoot naar een grotere pot en laten staan op mijn zolderkamer.
In het voorjaar (2021) weer verpoot naar een grote pot (40 ltr.) en ze op het terras buiten gezet en toen ging het erg snel, de struik groeide binnen 4maanden naar 1,8 meter met 3 aren met prachtige bloemen.
Heb de struik nu terug gesnoeid en in mijn koude kas gezet hopen dat hij het overleeft.

Eerst geweekt in lauw water , 3 zaden bleven drijven ook na schuren. Maar geplant, 1 is nu ontkiemd na 9 dagen, afwachten of de andere ook ontkiemen.

5 zaden op 18 september in lauw water, 19 september in zaai grond en reeds 3 gekiemt op de 24ste, de eerste blaadjes zijn in zicht. mijn vorige zaadjes waren helaas gekookt afgelopen zomer..nu binnen in de propagator op 25gr.

De zaaibeschrijving was wat verwarrend, aangezien de zaden niet zonken, zelfs na lichte, opzettelijke beschadiging. Al gauw werden ze zacht en gedeukt.

Overigens was dat niet het einde, bleek later. Na enkele dagen in het water te liggen, zwellen ze enorm op en volgt de kieming.

Uit wat trial and error lijkt me dit zelfs de voornaamste manier, verloopt namelijk het snelst!

Ze groeien overigens erg snel (25cm in ruim 2 weken), dus zorg voor een adequate pot!
