Product description

The Callistemon phoeniceus is much less encountered compared to the common Crimson bottlebrush and has beautiful red brush-like flowers which can be 15 cm wide. In the western part of Australia, the species grows on sandy soils along streams. The flowers are a good source of food for many insects, mammals and birds. The dense growth of the plant also serves as a shelter and nesting location. It’s a beautiful container plant which can withstand light frost. Provide a sunny spot.

Sowing description: Sow in sowing mix and do not water the ground from above, but from below. Let the ground suck up the water. The temperature has to be around 25 degrees Celsius, germination follows after one to three weeks.

Het zaad is heel fijn en heb ik daarom voor het zaaien gemengd met wat fijn zilverzand voor een betere verdeling van het zaad. Verder is het ook een lichtkiemer, dus niet afdekken. Bij mij was de opkomst van de zaden na 5 dagen

gewoon uitgestrooid in een potje zand, na 8 dagen de eerste sprietjes in zicht. staan op dag temparatuur van 25 graden.
