Product description

The desert bird of paradise originates from Argentina and Uruguay, but now also grows in other parts of South America and in countries around the Mediterranean Sea. Especially the flowers with yellow petals and long, red stamens are attractive, as well as the pinnate leaves which gracefully close in the evening. The pods are covered with red hairs and are poisonous. In the Amazon, the pods and seeds are used against fever and other diseases/medical issues. In a sheltered spot, the species could possibly be winter-hardy in Western Europe. The plant loses it leaves at frost.

Sowing description: First soak the seeds overnight in lukewarm water. Then sow them in sowing mix and let them germinate at 25degC. Germination can occur in less than a week.

Kiemt vlot en de jonge plantjes doen het goed.

Kiemen makkelijk en snel. Van de 6 zaadjes zijn er 5 gekiemd waarvan 1 plantje het helaas niet gered heeft. De overige 4 groeien na het kiemen zeer snel.

Na 4 dagen de eerste kiemer, nu afwachten of de rest ook nog volgt

Vrij makkelijk gekiemt, binnen 5 dagen alle zes..Deze kiemt sneller en groter dan de Ceasalpinia Pulcherima Rosea.

Na een paar dagen al kwam er 1 plantje naar boven. De rest is niet uitgekomen (na een maand). Het zaadje dat het wel gehaald heeft doet het heel goed. Hele leuke bladeren die 's nachts inklappen en als het licht wordt weer uitklappen.
