Product description

Very remarkable and rare species from Ecuador. Young leaves are first red-purple and white spotted and then change in colour through red-green to fully green. Quite special to see! It’s a tropical plant, which is why the temperature can’t fall below 15 degrees Celsius. A species that has to be included in your collection of rare tropical plants!

Sowing description: Sow the seed in sowing mix and let it germinate at 25-30 degC. Keep the soil constantly moist.
Please notice that this species can have a longer delivery time.

2 weken lang in een bakje met natte keukenrol gelegd. Daarna in een kiemkasje binnen in de grond gedaan, gedacht dat er niks meer van zou komen. Maar toch na 8 (!) Maanden ontkiemt :) ben benieuwd hoe de eerste blaadjes wr uit gaan zien.

Zaad plat in de aarde laten ontkiemen boven het rooster van mijn diepvriezer (warme lucht), met een deksel om de vochtigheid hoog te houden. Af en toe extra bevochtigd. Na 3a4 maand is ie ontkiemd. Plantje ziet er goed uit, hopelijk blijft ie het goed doen!

Medio okt heb ik twee zaden besteld. Ik heb ze in vochtig keukenpapier gewikkeld, in een bakje gedaan en dat weer op een verwamingsmatje gezet met thermostaat op 28 graden Celcius. Na een paar weken kwam bij één zaad het worteltje naar buiten....die heb ik vervolgens voorzichtig overgebracht naar een pot met aarde. Inmiddels ruim een maand later heb ik een plantje van circa 10 cm groot met 4 prachtige rode gevlekte bladeren. De pot staat binnen op de ventsterbank, met daarom heen een plastic zak dat bovenaan een beetje open staat. Op deze wijze wil ik de luchtvochtigheid hoog houden. Het plantje lijkt het er goed bij te doen.

Beste Sander,
Sipke Hoogma van Seedgarden of Eden heeft van de Browneopsis uyacalina zaailingen aangeboden voor 17,50 euro.
Hij heeft dus wel de ervaring met de zaaiprocedure en verdere opkweek.
Misschien wil hij jou wel het geheim vertellen. Of (indien hij jou tezeer als concurrent ziet) moet ik hem die vraag stellen door bijv. een zaad van de Browneopsis te kopen. Ik vind het wel een heel bijzondere plant.
