Product description

The yellow pitahaya or yellow dragon fruit is a deliciously sweet fruit with a yellow skin and white flesh. It is an epiphytic cactus, so the plant grows in trees and climbs over branches with long stems. Air roots are used to draw water and nutrients from the soil. The white flowers can grow up to 35 cm in size in nature and are among the largest flowers of all cacti. They are self-pollinating and each produces a spiny fruit. For consumption, it is easiest to cut the fruit in half and scoop out the pulp. The plant likes a sunny position, well-drained soil and is otherwise easy to keep as a houseplant.

There was uncertainty about the correct species name, but research has shown that it is a natural cross between Hylocereus costaricensis and Selenicereus inermis. The yellow pitahaya can be considered its own species within the Hylocereus genus. The same plant genus as the well-known red pitahaya.

Sowing directions: Sow seeds in seed and cutting soil and let them germinate at 20-25 degrees Celsius. Keep the soil lightly moist constantly. Germination usually occurs after a few weeks.

Instructies opgevolgd, geen kieming helaas.

Zaden na een week al gekiemd. Daarnaast ook meer als 10 zaden gekregen. Top!

Arno

Helaas geen succes. Ik denk dat deze zaden volledig oppervlakkig gezaaid moeten worden voor een beter resultaat. Ik zou het op die manier nog eens opnieuw proberen.
