Product description
This Amorphophallus species is kept in Southeast Asia for its edible tuber. It must first be boiled to break down toxins and is then added to dishes as a vegetable. Its natural range is in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Myanmar, mainly in tropical forests with drier periods. During drought, the plant goes dormant to sprout again later from the tuber. If the tuber is large enough, the plant can flower with an inflorescence up to 60 cm high. The spathe is purple with white spots and the spadix is light-coloured and often somewhat thickened. The species is self-pollinating, so fruits are easily formed after flowering with 1 seed in each. The leaves have a white-spotted petiole and grow to a height of about one metre. On the leaves, the plant can develop bulbils, so it can also reproduce asexually.It is an easy to keep species that grows best in well-drained soil. Water much less during the dormant period.
Sowing description: The seed can be raised (further) in a well-drained soil mixture with organic matter. Keep that constantly slightly moist. For initial development, a temperature of 25-30grC is optimal.

Zelfde resultaat als bij A. asper: We zijn 3,5 maand verder en deze groeit de pan uit. Drie bladeren gegroeid ondertussen, het eerste blad is verdord en het tweede blad gaat binnenkort (heeft al een kleine bulb die ik zodra dat blad eraf valt ga oppotten) en het einde is nog niet in zicht. Het zou een gemiddelde moeilijkheidsgraad zijn, maar de amorphophalluszaden die ik gekocht heb doen het eigenlijk van alle zaden die ik bij onszaden besteld heb, het makkelijkst. Wel een waarschuwing: plant de ontkiemde zaden gelijk in een 2 liter pot. Want 7x7 of 9x9 is echt heel erg snel te klein. Ik heb deze vandaag in de 2 liter pot gezet, maar ik vermoed dat ik ze nog een keer moet verpotten voor hij in rust gaat. Ook hier kwamen de wortels zeker al meer dan een maand uit de onderkant van de pot.
18 december besteld, gekiemd zaad. Gelijk in een propagator gezet in luchtige grond. Na 2 weken kwam de bladpunt boven het spagnum uit, en al vrij snel ontvouwde zich het blad. Plant doet het uitstekend.
